Chiropractic in Prior Lake

Chiropractic is a drugless and non-surgical approach to restoring health. Chiropractic care utilizes manual or mechanical adjustments to reestablish the normal movement and function of the spinal structures and other joints. The basic premise of chiropractic is that the body's structure plays a significant role in maintaining its function. If there is a disturbance anywhere in the body's structure, it can have a large impact on the body's ability to function properly.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a type of alternative medicine that treats patients by insertion and manipulation of solid, generally thin needles in the body. Acupuncture aims to correct imbalances in the flow of qi by stimulation of anatomical locations on or under the skin called acupuncture points, most of which are connected by channels known as meridians.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage is the manipulating of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using a variety of techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability and promote relaxation and well-being.

Active Release Technique

Active Release Technique or ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles. Our Prior Lake Chiropractor is one of very few certified Active Release providers in the Twin Cities.

Therapeutic Exercise/Spinal Rehabilitation

Active/passive forms of exercise are utilized to repair damaged tissues and rehabilitate the spine following an accident or injury. When done in a controlled, gradual, and progressive manner, active back exercises distribute nutrients into the disc space and soft tissues in the back to keep the discs, muscles, ligaments and joints healthy. The professionals at Prior Lake Spine Health & Injury Center will shape exercise programs for each patient's specific needs.

Disc Decompression

Pelvic blocking protocols and mechanical traction are utilized at our Prior Lake Chiropractic office to decompress bulging or herniated discs. The cushioned wedges, which are placed under each side of the pelvis, allows gravity to draw the disc away from the nerve.

Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound utilizes small sound waves to speed up the body's healing process and decrease scar tissue formation by increasing blood flow to an affected area.

DOT Physicals

Every commercial driver is required to take a series of DOT physicals during their career. Each driver is expected to carry with them at all times a current Medical Examiner's Certificate. The Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Physical covers a driver's complete medical history. A series of tests are also performed including vision & hearing, blood pressure, a urinalysis and a complete physical and neurological examination.

Kinesiotaping

Kinesiotaping is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion. It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical Muscle Stimulation aids the body in the healing process by sending a very small electrical current into the affected soft tissue or muscle spasm. The therapy utilizes this current in an effort to help reduce swelling and release trigger points which are often the cause of pain.

Nutrition Counseling

Proper nutrition is essential in the recovery of any musculoskeletal condition and achieving optimal health. Our Prior Lake Chiropractic office offers a full line of nutritional supplements and nutritional recommendations are included in all of the care we provide.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy utilizes special cups which are applied to your skin for a few minutes (5-10 minutes) by way of suction. The suction and negative pressure help to reduce pain and inflammation, improve blood flow and promote relaxation. Cupping may be used to relieve neck and back pain, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.

Graston Technique

Graston Technique or IASTM has been used successfully in treating chronic, acute and even post-surgical soft tissue conditions. This unique technique utilizes instruments to treat scar tissue and fascial restrictions during rehabilitation with the goal of restoring range of motion, eliminating pain and restoring normal function.
